It’s a pretty simple idea: put in a lot of parking lots, all connected by parking garages.
Now you can build a beautiful mall on top of a city park with no cars.
It’s called the “parking mall” and it’s now available in Lehigh Valley Mall in Philadelphia, a mall that’s already had its share of problems.
When the mall was built in the mid-1990s, traffic was so bad that a city official ordered the city to build another park.
It was only after the mall’s developer got an extension to its parking lot that the traffic problems started to disappear.
In fact, traffic problems have been going down since.
Now, the city is using the mall as a pilot project, and the plan is to see how it can be used in the future.
The design is called the Parking Mall in a Park, and it was unveiled last week.
Lehigh County officials hope that the parking mall will help revitalize the city’s downtown area, and will help the city generate money to build new parking garlands and other improvements.
“There are other examples of successful projects that don’t require parking garms,” said Lehigh City Manager Michael H. Wittenberg.
“This one does.”
The Parking Mall project was originally meant to be a pilot park project, but Lehigh has gotten some help from Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has donated $100,000 to the project, which is being funded through the National Capital Region Transit Fund, and has also made a small donation to the city.
Wrote the Lehigh Times: “It’s an incredible opportunity to help Lehigh get back on its feet.”
But there are some problems.
The parking mall has a total of 2.5 million square feet, and a total cost of $1.8 million, according to Lehigh’s official website.
It costs $15 million to build and it will be fully operational in 2023, with the mall set to be open by 2024.
The mall also has a parking lot for public events, but there aren’t any events planned for now, according the city website.
There are some parking garland options on the park, which includes a small parking lot and a large parking lot with street parking.
It also includes a pedestrian bridge, but it is not part of the park.
“The parking lot at the park is a perfect solution,” said Hedy Frye, the project manager at Lehigh.
“You’re able to have a small lot, it’s not going to be big.
You’re able have street parking, which would be a really nice thing to have.”
Lehigh is the first municipality in the nation to try and build a parking mall using the park’s space.
In 2016, the Pennsylvania legislature approved a bill that allowed cities to use parks to create parking lots.
The Pennsylvania State Parks Commission approved a similar bill in 2017, and in 2019, the Lechmere Park in Philadelphia was used as a park to build parking garrows for the mall.
The parks commission says that the project will allow Lehigh to develop a brand new park that will be much more beautiful and will be accessible to all people.
“It will be the largest mall in the state, which will make it an asset for Lehigh,” said Wittenberger.
“We’re going to put it on our own dime, so that we don’t have to pay for any parking.”
So far, Lehigh says it has been able to generate $300,000 in revenue from the parking lot.
“They have done a great job,” said Frye.
“So I’m really proud of the fact that they’ve done that.”
The parking lot itself will be in the park for about two years, with plans to open the mall to the public in 2024.
Leishman Parks, a non-profit that is helping fund the project along with the Leishmans, says the parking garage is expected to generate around $1 million in economic activity each year.
“I think this is going to help create jobs for the city, create more jobs in the community, and hopefully create some economic growth for the community,” said Jennifer Leish, Leishwoman Parks director.
“When the city decides to spend $1 billion to help make this a real park, we’re really going to have to applaud them for that.”
