Posted March 09, 2018 09:53:51The Gateway Mall is closing in St Matthews.
The mall has closed for nearly a decade, with a planned renovation.
The Gateway Mall was once a major hub for the region’s downtown and downtown shopping.
Now, it’s largely a parking lot, as well as a mall for cars.
I’m a huge mall, and I’m a little bit of a car guy, so when I see the Gateway Mall in a negative light, it just makes me feel like a bum, says Mall owner Scott Covington.
He’s trying to find a new owner to buy the mall.
The first thing I thought of was if I had to take a chance on someone who has a positive vision of what the mall should look like, and he has an asset in the mall, he says.
So he’s looking for someone who can help him make that happen.
He’s hoping to find someone who understands the mall and its history.
The Gateway mall opened in 1996, and opened to the public in 2003.
It’s a popular destination for shopping and shopping trips, but also a magnet for the elderly and the disabled.
A year ago, the mall announced it would close in the spring, citing an aging and understaffed workforce.
I think they underestimated that.
Scott Coveson says he doesn’t see a lot of seniors and people with disabilities.
