SAN ANTONIO — A large fire at a Texas mall is under control and will reopen by Sunday evening, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
The mall in Cottonwood, Texas, was evacuated Friday morning after a fire broke out at a construction site.
Firefighters and SWAT teams worked through the night to put out the blaze and had secured the area.
Authorities had said they were not certain if it was connected to a gas leak in the mall.
“There was some minor damage,” said Capt. Ron Smith, with the Texas Emergency Management Agency.
Smith said the fire was contained to the mall and the nearby Cottonwood Golf Course.
The park is open.
A Texas Department for Insurance spokesman told ABC News the fire destroyed the building.
