Topanga, California (CNN) A mall in the U.S. capital’s West End is getting a facelift.
The Topanga Plaza Mall in San Diego is undergoing a major facelifting, the latest in a string of upgrades to malls around the country.
It will include a new entrance and new signage.
The renovation was the brainchild of San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer.
“It’s the perfect storm of everything we need to build a better and more exciting shopping experience,” Faulconers office said in a statement.
“This project is the result of a long process of dialogue, collaboration and collaboration between our residents and businesses to find the best solution for the best shopping experience possible.”
The plaza has been a magnet for shoppers in the city for years, but Faulcones office said the renovation is the culmination of years of community engagement and public feedback.””
The new plaza is a testament to the people of San Francisco’s commitment to building an inclusive and welcoming community and to the many businesses that have been so supportive of this project,” the mayor said.
Topanga Mall has a total of 12,000 parking spaces, a large outdoor seating area, new retail and more.
The mall has been plagued by construction delays, and many residents have complained about noise and parking.
But, the mall is a magnet to the city’s Latino community, with many people from the area visiting during their lunch break.
